Tuesday, March 31st, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
Norton Public Library Community Room
Guest Host: Stan Adams, Kansas Department of Commerce & Program Director of the Statewide Broadband Initiative
Stan will begin the day with a rundown of what Broadband means, how it helps you—our libraries—and what connecting to the world from Kansas looks like moving forward.
Shekinah Bailey from the USDA will explain the grant opportunities available to all of us in rural areas. Representatives from E-Rate Solutions will discuss those recent changes to the funding and filing process. Stan will lead a panel discussion with Scott Sproul of the Norton City & County Economic Development Committee & Maggie Basgall of Nex-Tech regarding the successful and ongoing partnership with the Norton community and its service provider. We will learn about the successes and failures throughout the process and possibly some of the plans for the future of Norton County’s new collaborations with the library and our own NWKLS.

Take a walk and read a book at the same time, that’s right, and it was all just a brilliant idea of Ann Ferguson in Montpelier, Vermont. The project has now reached Kansas and has inspired our Northwest Kansas libraries to conduct their very own community Storywalks. The StoryWalk® Project is an easy, innovative and fun way for families to read and exercise together…For more information on this wonderful project, click on the Children’s Services tab at the top of this page.
The NorthWest Kansas Library System announces that our You Try-It! Kits for Youth and Teens are now available for YOU to TRY. We have a website devoted to helping you use the kits and for expanding your programming opportunities. You will also order your YT! Kits through the website’s request form.
